The Best Lawn Bowl for beginners.

It will boil down to some important factors which can be:-

• The large amount of choice. There are dozens of different types and sizes on offer.
• What position you play?
• The lead  player will play a different game from the skip.
• Are you playing indoors or outdoors?
• The comfort of the bowl in your hand.
• All bowls manufacturers make good bowls. There is no ONE SUPER BOWL for the beginner but there are some factors that you should consider to help you pick the best bowl for your needs. Remember it is comfort that matters when choosing a bowl. For a beginner we would recommend a mid bias, heavy weight bowl.

Taylor Blaze.  

Taylor Bowls have a great range of bowls models on offer for a beginner. If you are playing on fast greens you may consider the Blaze as this  bowl is made with a slender diameter that will give a more comfortable fit. It comes as standard with the  Premier grip but can be made with the new deeper extreme grip at an extra cost The extreme grip is great for those new to bowls who use the claw grip as it helps with a better grip and improved aim. It is in-between the Vector VS and the Ace with a nice smooth sweep to the jack, it is good for outdoor and indoor surfaces.

Taylor Ace   

 Another good bowl for new players is the Taylor Ace. This is the most popular bowl in the Taylor range and by far the best seller in the UK. It is a mid bias bowl and a great all rounder that can be used for all playing surfaces including indoors. There are other bowls in the Taylor range but the Blaze and the Ace are more suitable for beginners. The Taylor Ace comes with or without the deep channel grip called the extreme grip.

Drakes Pride Professional.  

The Professional model is a good bowl for the newbie to lawn bowls. This bowl is very versatile and can be used outdoors and indoors, it is a good mid- bias bowl,and a good all-rounder with a nice gradual finish. It comes with good grips and plenty of colours and has been a very popular bowl used by many of the Top players in the world rankings.

Drakes Pride Pro 50   

The Drakes pride Pro 50 is the same as the Professional but comes with the deeper "channel grip" that will give you more control with your aim. Drakes pride was the first company to offer this deeper grip with the introduction of computer control machines to manufacture the bowls to a very high standard. Super bowl for beginners.

Henselite Tiger Evo   

The Henselite Tiger Evo bowls is a new bowl that has been developed with the help of Top Players and the design team at Henselite headquarters.  
This new addition to the Henselite range of bowls is in-between the Tiger and Pro model and gives a great line to the jack. With a good range of colours this, is fast becoming a popular bowl with bowlers of all grades. The Evo can be used on any surface so avoiding any further costs for different sets of bowls for different playing surfaces. The Evo comes in a range of colours and sizes from 0 to 5. So What Is a good bowl for Beginners?

All the bowls are good as all manufactures have good reputations. What we would recommend for most bowlers starting in the game would be the Taylor Ace, with or without the Extreme Grip, this depends on how you hold the bowl, or the Drakes Pride Pro 50 even the Drakes Pride Professional and the Henselite range from Tiger to Evo. Again on how you grip the bowl.
