CHOOSING THE BIAS FOR YOU
When looking at the bias there are some points to consider.
1 The type of green you play on.For example do you play indoors or outdoors and is the green fast or slow.
2 What position do you play? A front end player may want a narrow bias bowl and a back end bowler would want a bowl with a wider bias.A compromise would be a mid-bias bowl.
3 The greens from Country to County differ greatly and in Australia green speeds are much faster than greens in the UK. In this article we are mostly dealing with the United Kingdom. In the UK most greens are a bit slower with times around 9 to 13 seconds and a wider bias is more acceptable. In Britain Henselite brought out the Tiger TX for indoors and is good for front end players.Of course there are also differences between local greens so have a chat to your coach or experienced members of your club to find out what the greens in your local area are like.
Tiger TX is the narrowest bias bowl in the range. It has a good tight line to the jack and inside the TIGER 2 and is best for indoors or fast surfaces.
The Tiger 2 is a superb bowl for fast greens and indoor. The line is inside the Tiger PRO and gives a gentle draw to the jack and does not have any hook. This a good bowl for leads and the second.
The Tiger Pro is a perfect bowl for any time and will be good for both outdoor and indoor rinks. As you can see from the chart is it in between the Tiger and Tiger 2 Good for any position
The EVO has a line in-between the Tiger and the Tiger pro and is good for indoors and out. It can be used in any position.
The Tiger is one of the all time greats and is a good mid bias bowl and can be played both outdoors and indoors. One of the classics.
CHOOSING A WEIGHT
